First Plants for Health Award for ResNet NPND Mycetoma project

ResNet NPND project on natural products against Mycetoma receives first "Plants for Health" award of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research!

The project "Mycetoma – perspectives of natural products from plants as leads to new therapeutics for the 18th neglected tropical disease", conducted by Profs Dr. Sami A. Khalid (Khartoum/Omdurman, Sudan) and Thomas J. Schmidt (Münster, Germany) aims at finding new molecules with activity against Madurella mycetomatis, a fungus responsible for a large part of Mycetoma cases. Mycetoma has recently been considered the 18th neglected tropical disease by WHO and affects mainly people living in poor rural areas in many subtropical and tropical countries.
We greatly appreciate this support and commitment in form of a very prestigious award from the world's leading society in the field of medicinal plant and natural product research!
